What are the George Washington Red 2 Cent Stamps?
An ordinary 1868 George Washington postage stamp isn’t of high value. However, if it has a B-grill mark (small up-pointing indentations), it is worth millions. At the moment, only four of these stamps exist. One of them was sold for approximately $1 million in 2008. The Treasury Department’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing began manufacturing U.S. postage stamps in 1894, altering the 1890 American Bank Note Company designs by adding triangular shapes to the upper corners. There are three versions of the George Washington 2 cent stamp with these triangles.
